In 2019, as part of a development project in Five Dock, Metway Developments dedicated a pedestrian walkway to the Inner West Council for the benefit of the local community. This link provides direct access between Great North Road and East Street, giving residents and visitors easier, safer access to the shopping strip on Great North Road.
The walkway was created with a vision to improve connectivity, encourage walking over short car trips, and support local businesses by increasing foot traffic. Because the development was named Catania—after the historic Italian city—the pedestrian link was thoughtfully designed with artwork, paintings, and themes that reflect both Catania and the local character of Five Dock. Murals and decorative elements along the walkway celebrate this cultural connection, turning a practical link into a place of identity and pride.
The link was officially named “Logos Way”, a title with deep spiritual meaning. In Greek, Logos translates to “The Word”, symbolising truth, knowledge, and purpose. This name gives the lane a sense of character and depth, connecting the physical space with a timeless idea of meaning and expression.
By gifting this link to the Council, Metway Developments ensured it remains a permanent public space that not only fosters community interaction but also adds vibrancy and cultural value to the streetscape.
